Do you want to be part of the building process for your very own piece of hand-made furniture? If you purchase a desk I will bring you along the process of building your ideal desk and share progress pictures along the way. You will even be included in key design decisions so that your desk is tailored to your personal needs. These decisions will include placement of cable grommets (if desired), placement of the desk control panel, preference on rounded vs. chamfered edges, and any other special requests you may have. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the process.
General Description
Sit stand desks are a great way to break up the monotony of sitting at a desk for hours on end and have numerous health benefits (e.g. reduce back pain, improve energy levels, etc.). I can make sit stand desks in multiple sizes to suit your needs and fit into your space. Each desk is finished with a durable hard wax oil that provides lasting protection and is natural to the touch (no plastic-like top coat finish). The table top can be made with option "bread ends" at no extra cost, which can be seen in the picture of the tabletop that is inside my shop.
The desk legs I use are powder coated, dual motor, electrically driven legs that can easily support the weight of the solid wood tabletop and multiple large monitors on top. There are cheaper legs out there with single motors that have a lower weight capacity, but I do not use those in my desk builds. The legs have a height range of 23.5" to 50.2". The table top will come with metal threaded inserts pre-installed in the bottom of your table top so that the legs can be securely attached using the machine screws that come with the legs. I do not want my customers having to attach the legs to the table top using coarse-threaded wood screws driven directly into the table top as these are susceptible to strip out and are not ideal for furniture application.
Materials
My desk tops are made from solid, locally sourced American Black Walnut. The thickness of the tabletop will vary depending on the wood used. The color that you see in the photos are the natural tones and colors that come directly from the wood, no stain is used to achieve this color. A large benefit of using hardwood as a tabletop, such as walnut. is that it is much more resilient to daily use (e.g. scratches, dents, dings, etc.) when compared to a softer wood, such as pine, that has been stained a darker color to resemble walnut.
Processing Time
These desks are made to order so the processing time is 2-6 weeks. Ample time is needed to allow the finish on the desk top to completely cure before shipment.
